Genesis 41:1-40 Pharaoh's Dreams
Joseph was in prison when Pharaoh had a dream. 7 sleek and fat cows come out of the Nile. Next 7 ugly and skinny cows come out of the Nile. The skinny cows ate the fat cows.
Pharaoh had a second dream in this dream: 7 healthy and good heads of wheat grown on a stalk. Next 7 thin and scorched by the east wind grow. The thin ones ate up the healthy ones. He woke up and realized it was a dream.
The next morning Pharaoh sent for all of the magicians and wise men. He told of his dreams but none of them could explain it. Then the Chief Cupbearer told the Pharaoh about Joseph and how he interpreted his dream and the dream of the Chief Baker.
Pharaoh had Joseph brought to him. Joseph was shaved and had his clothing changed before he came before the Pharaoh.
Joseph told Pharaoh that God would be the one that would give the interpreting of the dream. Pharaoh told of his dreams. Joseph said that the 7 cows and grains are 7 years. There is to be 7 years of abundance in Egypt followed by 7 years of famine. The reason that God gave him 2 dreams is because it is going to happen and it would happen very soon. Joseph also told him what he should do to help with the famine to come. Joseph told him to put someone in charge and collect 5th of the harvest during the 7 years of abundance. Then they will have food for the 7 years of famine. The Pharaoh and his officials like the plan. Pharaoh then put Joseph in charge of the palace. Only Pharaoh was to be higher than Joseph.
