 Genesis 46:1-47:12 Jacob goes to Egypt

Israel (Jacob) gathered all that was his and started on his way to Joseph.  When he reached Beersheba he offered to God.  That night God spoke to him in his dreams.  God reassured him that he was going with him to Egypt and was going to make him a great nation.  Jacob took his whole family to Egypt. 

Reuben:

Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.

Simeon:

Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

Levi:

Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

Judah:

Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez and Zerah (but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan).

Perez:

Hezron and Hamul.

Issachar:

Tola, Puah, Jashub and Shimron.

Zebulun:

Sered, Elon and Jahleel.

These were the sons Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram, besides his daughter Dinah. These sons and daughters of his were thirty-three in all.

Gad:

Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli.

Asher:

Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah.

sister: Serah.

Beriah:

Heber and Malkiel.

These were the children born to Jacob by Zilpah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah–sixteen in all.

The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel:

Joseph and Benjamin. 

In Egypt, Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.

Benjamin:

Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim and Ard.

These were the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob–fourteen in all.

Dan:

Hushim.

Naphtali:

Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shillem.

These were the sons born to Jacob by Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel–seven in all.

Joseph took out chariots to meet his father.  Joseph embraced his father and cried for a long time.  After this Jacob said that he was ready to die now that he knew his son was alive.  Joseph told his family to say that they are Shepard’s so they could live in Goshen.  Five of Joseph's brothers went with Joseph to talk to the pharaoh.  Pharaoh told them to take the best land and that they should also take care of his sheep.  Jacob blessed pharaoh.  Joseph settled his family and gave them food.
