Exodus 2:1-10 The Birth of Moses

Exodus 2:1-10 The Birth of Moses

2 descendant of Levi married and had a son.  His mother hid him for 3 months.  After this it was impossible for her to hide him.  So she took a basket and coated it with tar and pitch to make it waterproof.  She put the baby in the basket and than place it among the reeds in the Nile.  His sister watched to see what would happen to her baby brother.

Pharaoh’s daughter went to the Nile to bathe.  She saw the basket among the reeds and asked her attendant to go get it.  When she opened it she saw the baby boy inside.  The baby boy cried which made her feel sorry for the boy.  She knew that he was a Hebrew baby.  The baby boy’s sister ask if they would like one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby.  Pharaoh’s daughter agreed and she went to go get her mother.  So Pharaoh’s daughter paid his mother to take care the baby boy.

Exodus 2:9-10

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took the baby and nursed him. When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.”
