Exodus 4:1-17 Signs for Moses

 Exodus 4:1-17 Signs for Moses

The chapter starts with Moses One again questioning God:

Exodus 4:1

Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you’?”

The Lord asked what Moses had in his hand.  It was a staff. He told him to throw it on the ground and it became a snake.  Then he asked Moses to pick it up by the tail and it became a snake again.  Next he had him put his hand in his cloak.  Then he had him pull it out and it had leprous.  When Moses put it back in his cloak and took it out it was restored as it was before.  God told him that he gave both of these miraculous signs so that they will know God sent Moses. God said that if they do not believe still take water from the NIle and pout it on dry land and the water from the Nile will turn to blood.

Even after all of this Moses still question God:

Exodus 4:10

Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”

God points out to Moses that he was the one that makes people deaf, mute, blind.  Then he told him GO, and that he would help him speak and teach him what to say.

What was Moses’ answer?

God had been very patient with Moses but now he was done.  He asked him what about your brother.  Aaron was to be his mouth and speak for him.  But he was still to do the miraculous signs.
