Exodus 8:20-32 The Plague of Flies

Exodus 8:20-32 The Plague of Flies

God told Moses and Aaron to get up early in the morning and go see Pharaoh.  Again they are to tell him that God says to Let my people go.  This time he was going to send swarms of flies to the officials and all his people.  All house and even the ground would be full of flies.

This time was going to be different.  God would not send flies to everyone.

Exodus 8:22-23

“ ‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the LORD, am in this land. I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This miraculous sign will occur tomorrow.’ ”

And this is exactly what God did.  Pharaoh requested to see Moses and Aaron.  He told them they could do their sacrifices to God.  But Moses said that he could not do this in the land of Egypt.  They had to make the 3 days journey as God commanded them.  Pharaoh said he could go but not too far.  Moses prayed for the flies to leave and they did.  Then pharaoh changed his mind and would not let them leave.

Exodus 8:30-32

Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD, and the LORD did what Moses asked: The flies left Pharaoh and his officials and his people; not a fly remained. But this time also Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not let the people go.
