Exodus 9:1-12 The Plague of Livestock and Boils

Exodus 9:1-12 The Plague of Livestock and Boils

The Lord told Moses once again to go tell Pharaoh to let his people go and worship.  This time the Lord was going to plague their horses, donkeys, camels, sheep and goats. Once again there was going to be a distinction from Egypt and Isrealites.  This would not affect any of the livestock of the Isrealites.  The Lord was going to do this tomorrow.

The next day all of the livestock of Egypt died but not even on of the Israelites livestock suffered.  Pharaoh sent his men to check and see if there were any dead animals among the Isrealites.  The men confirmed that there was not even one dead animal. But still Pharaoh would not let God people go.

Exodus 9:7

Pharaoh sent men to investigate and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart was unyielding and he would not let the people go.

God then told Moses and Aaron to take soot from a furnace and toss it in the air in front of Pharaoh.  This will become a fine dust all over Egypt and they will develop boils on all living creatures left in Egypt. Moses and Aaron did as they were told.  Pharaoh’s magicians could not do the same because they too were covered with boils.

Exodus 9:12

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said to Moses.
