Genesis 10:1 - The Table of Nations
After the flood destroyed all the animals and people of the world, except for those on the ark, it was up to those who were left to repopulate the world. Most of the repopulate would be left upon Noah’s 3 sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
In the first verse it sets up what was to come in the verse to come.
