Exodus 13:17- 14:31 Crossing the Sea

Exodus 13:17- 14:31 Crossing the Sea

Pharaoh told the Israelites to leave in the middle of the night.  The Israelites took Joseph’s bones with them when they left Egypt.  God lead them to the Red Sea.  During the day God leads them by a pillar of clouds and at night by a pillar of fire.  God once again hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he pursued the Isrealites.  Pharaoh and the Egyptians realized what they had lost.  Israelites cried out to God as they saw the Egyptians coming.  They thought they would die.  They wanted to go back to Egypt.

Exodus 14:11-13

They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.

The Lord was doing the fighting for them.

Exodus 14:14

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Moses was to stretch out his hand to part the sea.  The God and the Pillar moved behind them.  It was dark on one side and light on the other.  God used wind to dry the land.  The Israelites traveled on dry land with walls of water on each side.

God Made the Isrealites confused and the wheels came off the chariots.  The Egyptian knew it was God.

Exodus 14:25

He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt.”

The sea came back in place and the Egyptians were killed not one lived.  The Israelites put their trust back in God.
