Exodus 12:1-30 The Passover

 Exodus 12:1-30 The Passover

God told Moses and Aaron this month is the first month of your year.  They were to tell all of Israel that on the tenth day they are to take a lamb. The lamb should be 1 year old and no defects.  They should care for the lamb between the 10-14 day and on the 14th they were to kill the lamb at twilight.  Then they should take the blood and put it on the sides and top of the door jam.  They are to roast the meat over a fire.  With the meat they will eat herbs and bread made without yeast.  Whatever was left should be burn up.  The Isrealites were to eat it fully dressed, cloak tucked into belt, sandals on their feet and staff in their hand.  On that night He would pass through Egypt and Strike down every first born, both of men and animals.  The blood on the door jam will be a sign and he will Passover those houses.  This would be a day to celebrate each year for years to come.

7 days, fourth - twenty first evening,  they would eat made without yeast. The yeast was to be removed from the houses and if anyone ate from it they were to be cut off from Israel. This included foreigners in their house also.  On the first day and the last day they were to have a sacred assembly.

Moses told the elders of Israel to go select their animals.  Also he told them to put the blood on the door jam.  They were instructed to not leave their homes until morning.  Moses instructed them to do all the things God told him to. The people bowed down and worshiped.  The people did all that they were told to do.

Exodus 12:29-30

At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.
