Exodus 28:6-13 The Ephod

 Exodus 28:6-13 The Ephod

Exodus 28:6

“Make the ephod of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen–the work of a skilled craftsman.

Just as with many other things the ephod is to be made out of gold, blue, purple and scarlet.  There should be 2 shoulder pieces to help fasten the ephod.  The waistband is to be made of the same items:

Exodus 28:8

Its skillfully woven waistband is to be like it–of one piece with the ephod and made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and with finely twisted linen.

They were to take onyx stone and engrave the names of Israel on them.  6 names on each stone.  These stones where to be mounted on the shoulder pieces on the ephod.  This was to be a memorial before the Lord.
