Exodus 28:15-31 The Breastpiece

 Exodus 28:15-31 The Breastpiece

Like many of the items the Breastpiece should be made for the same items

Exodus 28:15

“Fashion a breastpiece for making decisions–the work of a skilled craftsman. Make it like the ephod: of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen.

It is a square, a span by a span, and folded double. There was to be four rows of precious stones.

1st row: ruby, topaz, beryl

2nd row: turquoise, sapphire, emerald

3rd row: jacinth, agate, amethyst

4th row: chrysolite, onyx, jasper

The setting for the stones are to be gold.  Each of the stone represents each of the twelve tribes of Israel.  They were to make braided chains of pure gold that would be put through gold rings that are fastened on two corners of the breastpiece.  The breastpiece is to be attached to the Ephod by gold rings.

Exodus 28:29-30

“Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the LORD. Also put the Urim and the Thummim in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron’s heart whenever he enters the presence of the LORD. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the LORD.
